The newsletter you steer entirely by email
Every other newsletter tool gives you a dashboard to log into, settings to configure, a prompt to get right. BrightKite gives you a reply button. You steer your entire newsletter by email.
Schedule a chatThe dashboard is the work
Think about what a newsletter tool actually asks of you. Log in. Find this week's draft. Open the editor. Learn the editor. Tweak the prompt. Adjust the settings. Schedule the send. The tool calls this control. It is really just work, moved from writing onto admin.
You didn't want a dashboard. You wanted a good newsletter to go out without you having to think about it. The dashboard is the thing standing between you and that.
So we removed it
BrightKite has no dashboard, no portal, no login, no app. The way you steer your newsletter is the way you already work all day. You send an email.
Reply to any issue we send you. Tell us, in plain words, what you want:
- "Lead with the new case study next week."
- "We just shipped a feature. Mention it in the next issue."
- "Go lighter this week. Our customers are slammed."
- "Drop the news section, focus on our own story."
The next issue follows the instruction. No form, no syntax, no prompt engineering. You write to us the way you would write to a colleague who is good at their job. Because that is the relationship.
Why email is the right interface
A dashboard assumes you will show up to it. You won't, not reliably, and honestly neither would we. Email meets you where you already are. It is a record of what you asked for. It works from your phone, in a queue, between meetings.
This is also our favourite feature, and the one nothing else on the market offers. The instruction you send today shapes the very next issue. Your newsletter and your business stay in sync, and the only thing you ever had to learn was something you learned twenty years ago.
